Location ~ The church is situated on Mount Dinham and lies just outside the city of Exeter’s ancient walls, within the county of Devon in the South West of England. The church has good transport links by road, bus and rail and is less than 10 minutes walk from Exeter’s High Street and the Cathedral.
The Iron Bridge works ~ The bridge is closed for refurbishment until June 2025. You can walk under the bridge onto Dinham Rd, or access by car from St. David’s hill driving East. Click here for more information and diversion routes.
Parking ~ For approx 10 spaces on the south side of the church. Collect a pink permit from inside the church to display in your vehicle. For nearby car parks, use this link Exeter Car Parks.
Getting here ~ St. Michael’s is approximately a 10 minute walk from Exeter Central train station, or 15 minutes from Exeter St David’s train station. Exeter Central Bus Station is a 20 minute walk away and there are railings outside the church for bicycles. Currently, the Grade 1 listed Iron Bridge which links Mount Dinham to Exeter city centre is currently closed for refurbishment, but you can walk under the bridge and on to Mount Dinham or arrive on foot or by car from St. David’s Hill and on to Dinham Road. Access ~ As a Victorian Grade 1 listed building, the main access into St Michael’s church involves steps. Temporary ramps can be positioned to allow smooth wheelchair access through the West Doors. Please contact the Church Warden in advance of your visit or the stewards on duty if you require ramped access and we will be happy to help you.
