Wednesday 22nd June at 7.30pm, St Michael’s Lectures are delighted to welcome Dr Karen O’Donnell, a Research Fellow at Durham University, working in Digital Theology and ministry training, to talk on the topic “Help for Heroes: PTSD, Warrior Recovery and the Church.”
Dr Karen O’Donnell received her PhD from the University of Exeter Department of Theology & Religion for research in Trauma Theology – re-reading theological doctrines in the light of traumatic experience, post-traumatic stress and recovery. After a BA in Politics and Religious Studies at Newcastle University, she worked in industry for two years before training as a Religious Education teacher at Sheffield Hallam University. She taught RE at a couple of comprehensive schools before becoming the head of Philosophy and Religious Studies at a large, rural school. In 2012 she gained an MA at Nottingham University in Theology and Religious Studies and her research focus turned to Catholic Theology and particularly La Nouvelle Theologie, de Lubac, Mary and Dante. She is now a Research Fellow at Durham University, working in Digital Theology with ministerial training courses across the country.
Everyone is warmly welcomed to the St Michael’s Lectures and admission is FREE (with a voluntary retiring collection). They are followed by discussion and light refreshments, and are held in St. Michael’s Church.
